The Plex Media Server is an application that runs on your PC. You can only access media while the server is running, so we recommend you allow the application to load when you log-in. To do this, right-click the Plex Icon in the Windows System Tray and choose ‘Start Automatically on Login’. The Plex Media Server will automatically start when you log onto this user account.
The Plex Media Server preferences can opened by clicking the Settings button in the Media Manger screen.
enter a name for this Plex Media Server. This is useful if you have several PMS on the same network.
For example, if you have 2 servers, both with a ‘Movie’ Section, you’ll see the friendly name in the client.
If you don’t enter a name here, your Computer’s System name will be used instead.

There are several Library Update options.
When changes to Section folders are detected, the library will update. This is a good option unless you are continually writing to the Section folders. For example, if you download from the Internet to a Section folder the library would continually update. In this case, you should not select this option.
Choose to update the library from various set periods
choose whether or not to include Music Sections in an automatic update. Music sections can take a long time to update.
If you have the Plex iOS or Android client, you can choose to offer higher bitrates over 3G connections.
This option is generally used for development work.
