To launch the Media Manager right-click the Plex > icon in the Windows System tray and choose Configure Plex Media Server. The Media Manager will load. The Media Manager is divided into 2 main sections
Click the Section you want to edit, then click Edit Section from either the gear icon or at the right of the Media Manager window. Make the changes you want then click Update Section.
The Media Manager will periodically update the defined Sections. You can set to update automatically or manually update Section.
Auto-updating the Library is a Plex Media Server Setting.
Right-Click the Plex icon in the Windows System tray and choose Configure Plex Media Server.
The Media Manager will load.
“Update my library when changes to my folders are detected”
with this option set, when file-system changes are detected, the library will be updated. If you’re often making changes to your media folders (like downloading internet media directly to a Section folder), you may notice the Media Server is continually scanning. In this case, don’t select this option.
Choose the period you’d like the library re-scanned
Choose whether to include music sections in automatic updates
You can choose to update your library manually.
Updating a Section will cause the Section to be scanned for new content. To refresh a section, click the gear icon and choose Refresh Section.
If you have made major changes to a Section (like changing the Section Type, Metadata agent), or simply want to re-download all the metadata , you can force-refresh the section.
This will refresh all the metadata (plot summaries, posters etc) as well as check for new media files.
